Nagoya University of Commerce and Business has established a new entrance examination category for students entering in 2027, specifically for students who have participated in a brass band club. This system will utilize the achievements and accomplishments of students who have been active in a brass band club during high school in the admissions decision, and successful applicants will receive a perk of a 1 yen monthly dormitory fee.
According to Kurimoto Gakuen, the educational corporation that operates Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, the entrance examination for students with a brass band background will be held for the Faculty of Commerce, the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of International Studies. Applicants must be graduating from high school or secondary school in March 2026 or expected to graduate in March 2027, have Nagoya University of Commerce and Business as their first choice, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher while enrolled, and have a record of participation in a brass band club.
The selection process involves reviewing application documents, an essay, and an interview. The application fee is 35,000 yen, and applications open from September 1st. Successful applicants to the brass band club entrance exam will receive a reduced monthly dormitory fee of 10,000 yen for the international dormitory.
Nagoya University of Commerce and Business aims to attract students with a wide range of abilities, and also hopes that these students will play an active role in the university's symphonic ensemble, which won the gold prize in the university division of the Aichi Prefecture Wind Ensemble Competition held on August 2nd and is aiming to advance to the national competition.
