StudyKarte, which operates "StudyKarte Lab," an online private tutoring school specializing in medical school entrance exams, has released the entrance exam schedule calendar for the 2027 general selection process for all 31 private medical schools. In just four days, from February 1st to February 4th, 18 of the 31 schools will hold their first-stage exams. As mid-tier schools with similar academic rankings will overlap directly, the traditional strategy for private medical school entrance exams—applying to many schools and aiming for acceptance at one—will be less effective in the 2027 entrance exams.
Yoshioka, the academic affairs manager at StudyKarte Lab and an expert on medical school entrance exams, commented, "In particular, the 2027 academic year will see the first-stage exams concentrated over four days in early February, forcing students aiming for private medical schools to make extremely difficult decisions. This concentration of dates will definitely reduce the number of universities that students can physically take exams at. As applications will be dispersed, the competition ratio (apparent competition rate) will likely decrease. Furthermore, taking exams for four or more consecutive days is not easy, both physically and mentally. When considering which days to take exams and which days to leave open, students need to think carefully about which days to apply to."
