Musashino University's Distance Learning Division will launch two new retraining programs, the "AI Utilization Expert Course" and the "Buddhist Practice Course," starting in April 2027.
The cutting-edge technology of "AI" and the traditional philosophy of "Buddhism"—these two courses, which at first glance seem to be polar opposites, embody Musashino University's strong commitment to its brand slogan, "Shaping happiness for the world."
The "AI Utilization Expert Course" aims to equip participants with the ability to utilize AI not by memorizing AI knowledge, but as a powerful partner to transform their ideas into reality and solve societal problems, in this era of dramatic change brought about by the emergence of generative AI such as ChatGPT. It provides practical learning to help participants overcome anxieties about potentially losing their jobs to AI and become "performers" who take the lead in creating new value.
This course employs a pay-as-you-go system, allowing anyone to start small and easily, with courses available one level (4 credits) at a time. The total cost for the first year is 70,000 yen (including selection fee, enrollment fee, basic level course fee, and supplementary materials fee). While you will be considered a "non-degree student" and will not receive a degree, fulfilling the completion requirements will earn you a world-standard "open badge."
On the other hand, the "Buddhist Practice Course" is a learning experience that expertly blends academic study (understanding theory) with practical application (demonstration) to internalize knowledge through physical experience, in this rapidly changing era. In today's world, where information is abundant and we tend to be bound by the opinions of others and societal "right answers," great innovators such as Steve Jobs have turned their attention to Buddhism. In this course, you will take a step back from comparisons with others and efficiency-driven thinking, regain your own core (inner compass), and learn the wisdom to live flexibly and powerfully in uncertain times. The course fee is 110,000 yen in total (package price for 12 units). Upon fulfilling the specified requirements, you will receive a "Course Completion Certificate" issued by the university, as well as a world-standard digital certification, the "Open Badge."
