Sanjo City University (Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture) held several scholarship award and encouragement ceremonies for students entering in the 2026 academic year. A total of 86 students were selected to receive an annual grant of 9 yen, equivalent to approximately 48% of tuition fees, for the 2026 academic year alone.

The university's tuition fee is 535,800 yen per year, and the practical training fee is 60,000 yen per year. Currently, there are five types of scholarships available: the Takanami Ryufu Scholarship (Takanami Ryufu Memorial Foundation), the Takagi Scholarship (Takagi Co., Ltd.), the Snow Peak Fellowship (Snow Peak Co., Ltd.), the NS POC Program Scholarship (Nippon Seiki Co., Ltd.), and the Sanjo City-specific scholarship, the "Sanjo City Morohashi Tetsuji Doctoral Scholarship."

None of the scholarships are subject to household income restrictions; they are non-repayable grants selected based on academic performance and motivation, allowing students to focus on their studies during their time at university. First-year scholarship recipients are selected from among the successful applicants in each entrance examination as high-achieving students at the start of their studies.

Each scholarship provides financial support for students' diverse endeavors, each with a different objective, such as fostering global talent, cultivating "innovative technologists" as advocated by the university, developing business leaders, creating innovation through corporate collaboration, and participating in local community activities.

In addition to its own unique and dedicated grant-type scholarships, students can also utilize the new higher education support system, the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship, and other support programs from external organizations. By combining multiple support programs, the university aims to create an environment where students do not have to give up on higher education due to financial reasons.
