To commemorate the 140th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Tokyo Athletic Association in 2026 and the 150th anniversary of the founding of the University of Tokyo in 2027, Keio Corporation, in collaboration with Meguro Ward, will change the train arrival melody at Komaba-Todaimae Station on the Inokashira Line, where the Komaba Campus is located, to a song associated with the University of Tokyo.
The train approach melodies will be the cheering song "Tada Hitotsu" for Platform 1 (downbound, towards Kichijoji) and the sports day song "Oozora to" for Platform 2 (upbound, towards Shibuya). This will be implemented from the first train on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The University of Tokyo Athletic Association song "Ōzora to" (To the Great Sky) and the cheer song "Tada Hitotsu" (Only One) are positioned as "the songs of the University of Tokyo" and are sung at University of Tokyo ceremonies and during cheering at Tokyo Big6 Baseball games. "Ōzora to" (officially titled: University of Tokyo Athletic Association Song) was written in 1932 with lyrics by Kitahara Hakushū and music by Yamada Kōsaku. "Tada Hitotsu" was written in 1947 with lyrics by Ōmori Yukio and music by Yamaguchi Takuma.
This will deepen interaction and mutual understanding between local residents and students, encourage visits to the station and surrounding areas, and aim to create a lively atmosphere and revitalize the region.
