Kinki University will reorganize the Faculty of Science and Engineering in April 2022, and will open the 4th Faculty of Informatics on the Higashi-Osaka Campus, with the Faculty of Science and Engineering as the parent body.At the same time, the "Department of Energetic Materials" will be newly established in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be renamed to "Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering".

The shortage of IT engineers is considered to be one of the most serious social problems among the shortage of human resources, and it is predicted that there will be a shortage of about 2030 advanced IT human resources in Japan in 55 (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, 2019 "IT". Survey report on human resources supply and demand ").Human resources involved in advanced IT technologies such as big data, IoT, artificial intelligence, and information security are considered indispensable in Society 5.0, but the university continues to be unable to meet the demands of society. Therefore, Kinki University established the "Faculty of Informatics", and from the second year, it is divided into three courses, "Intelligent Systems", "Cyber Security", and "Real World Computing", and provides advanced specialized education systematically and systematically. ..The enrollment capacity is 2 people.

At the same time, the Faculty of Science and Engineering will newly open the "Department of Energetic Materials" and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be renamed to "Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering".The capacity is 120 for the Department of Energetic Materials and 170 for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Communication Engineering.

The Department of Energetic Materials is the only private university that has an educational reactor facility, and also conducts education and research utilizing the reactor facility.Through co-creation of education and research that transcends the boundaries of fields, we will draw a future image of energy-related technology and develop science and engineering human resources who will contribute to its realization.

The curriculum consists of three areas that combine chemistry, electrical and electronic engineering, nuclear energy science and engineering, mechanical engineering, and life science.
In the "Next Generation Infrastructure Energy Area", you will learn about energy (solar energy, hydrogen, wind power, geothermal power, nuclear power, fusion, etc.) and high-efficiency energy conversion / storage technology that will be the basis of a decarbonized / sustainable society.
In the "Life Device Energy Area", you will learn about energy conversion and utilization in living organisms and the utilization of minute energy for supplying energy to medical sensors and devices.
In the "Material Creation Area", you will learn about high-performance materials that support the above new energy technologies.

In the Department of Electrical and Electronic Communication Engineering, students will study five fields of "Power Electronics / Power Engineering", "Electronics Materials", "Optoelectronics", "Mechatronics", and "Information / Communication" that meet the needs of society. With a curriculum that deepens practical understanding, we will systematically provide education from basic technology to advanced technology, aiming to train engineers who can play an active role in a wide range of electronics fields.
