Hidetsugu Yoneda Associate Professor of Hakubi Center, Kyoto University, in collaboration with Hamamatsu Gakuin University, Fukui University, Showa Gakuen, Konan University, Kanazawa University, Hiratani Children's Development Clinic, etc. We investigated "judgment of good and bad".

ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosed by social and interpersonal communication difficulties and excessive commitment.Previous studies have shown that children with ASD have difficulty understanding malicious intent and are prone to be fooled by the temporary kindness of others with malicious intent.

In this survey, 19 elementary and junior high school students with ASD and 20 elementary and junior high school students with typical development were read the sentences that manipulated the characteristics and behavior of the characters and the ending of the story, and made good and evil judgments for the characters. I had them go.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that elementary and junior high school students with ASD judge right from wrong based on temporary behavior rather than the characteristics of the characters. In particular, it was shown that it is easy to judge that a bad child is a "good child" if he / she shows good behavior temporarily.
In addition, it may be difficult for a child with ASD to make inferences based on the characteristics of others as a cause of difficulty in understanding the malicious intent of others, and to predict what they are likely to do in the future. Sex was shown. This provides new insights into the judgment of others with autism spectrum disorders.

This time, the research team has developed a method that can examine good and evil judgment strategies without relying on introspection by creating a story that combines behaviors and endings that depend on characteristics and situations. In the future, not only ASD but also people who have difficulty in empathizing with others will be examined for the effect of empathy on good and evil judgment by examining good and evil judgment.
