The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy has announced 2016 nice-step researchers in 11 to give to researchers who have made significant contributions to the development of science and technology.Kenji Suetsugu, a specially appointed lecturer at the Graduate School of Science, Kobe University, who discovered a new species of plant that has stopped photosynthesis, has selected cutting-edge researchers from a wide range of people, including university faculty members, doctors, and engineers from venture companies.

The award-winning researchers include Dr. Suetsugu, Assistant Professor Emi Tamaki of Waseda University Faculty of Human Sciences, Representative Takaaki Hirotsu of HIROTSU Bioscience, and Assistant Professor Keiichi Nakagawa of the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo.
Assistant Professor Tamaki has developed a device that moves human hands using computer signals.Hirotsu has developed a highly accurate and simple method for early detection of cancer by utilizing the behavioral characteristics of nematodes.Assistant Professor Nakagawa is developing the world's fastest camera that captures the world of one trillionth of a second.

"Nice step researchers" started in 17.The combination of "nice", which means wonderful, and "step", which means leap, is entwined with the abbreviation "NISTEP" of the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy. The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy has selected researchers who are active in various fields of science and technology innovation and will inspire Japan. From a survey of 2,200 experts, we selected about 400 researchers who are attracting attention as candidates, and selected 11 from them based on their research results and research activities in Japan and overseas.
