Yamazaki Laboratory, Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering, The University of Tokyo and Prap Japan Co., Ltd., which provides a training program "Media Training" to learn communication skills for media, jointly hold press conferences and new product announcements by companies and organizations. Research on impression analysis and quantification at press conferences will start in earnest from January 2017.

Press conferences are an important method in public relations and IR activities that widely disseminate information, and have a great impact on the impressions of companies, organizations, and celebrities. Not only positive news such as the appointment of a new top manager or the launch of a new product, but also negative news such as an apology conference poses a serious risk to the company or organization depending on the evaluation and success or failure.

Unlike presentations that speak directly to the audience, the content of press conferences, especially for the press, is delivered to the general public through the media. In order to convey the message accurately, it is essential for spokespersons and speakers to practice high media-friendly literacy and communication skills in advance.

In this research, Prap Japan, which has knowledge of media training, and Yamazaki Laboratory, which has been conducting research related to "impression" and "attractiveness" such as analysis of presentations, will combine their knowledge and expertise with each other to write and speak.・ Use artificial intelligence to analyze and deeply learn the factors that affect the impression of the spokesperson at the press conference by video analysis.

In addition, we aim to develop a system that quantifies the analysis results and enables evaluation from both qualitative and quantitative aspects, and enables objective and highly accurate evaluation of the impression given by the press conference. This makes it possible to predict success or failure to some extent in the rehearsal exercises before the actual press conference, and by correcting the clear issues presented to artificial intelligence with media training, the ability to respond at the actual press conference is improved. However, it is said that public relations and IR activities can be optimized.
