Showa Women's University will start an archivist training program (co-education) in the Graduate School of Life and Culture Studies from 2022.To commemorate this, on September 2021, 9, a special lecture by Mr. Takeo Kato, the former director of the National Archives of Japan, will be held.

 An archivist is a professional staff member who collects, classifies, manages, and stores official and private documents, evaluates and sorts them, and is involved in the publication service of the materials.The National Archives of Japan established the "Certified Archivist *" qualification in 2020 and began to secure professional professions.Archivist is a qualification recognized at the graduate school level in the world, but it is still a new official qualification in Japan.

 Mr. Kato is a member of the "Public Records and Archives Management Council" established by then Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda in 2008. A leading expert in document management who served as the director of the archives.From this experience, he will give a lecture on the current status and role of the National Archives of Japan, the future of document management, and the training of "archivists" who are experts in document management.In addition, after the lecture, an archivist training program briefing session and a graduate school admissions counseling session will be held (participation is optional).
