Kanazawa University and Toyama University are planning to open a joint training course (tentative name) for teachers such as elementary, junior high and high schools in April 2022.In anticipation of a decrease in the demand for teachers due to the declining birthrate, we will efficiently manage the training course and develop teachers who can respond to the complicated issues in the educational field by making the best use of their respective strengths. As the number of compulsory education schools for elementary and junior high schools is increasing, the graduation requirement is to obtain two types of teacher's licenses based on the elementary school teacher's license.
The University of Toyama will reorganize the Faculty of Human Development Science, which has a teacher training course, into the Faculty of Education, and will establish a training course in collaboration with the School of Education of the Human Sociology Area School of Kanazawa University. The enrollment capacity is 85 at both Kanazawa University and Toyama University. The University of Toyama will decrease from 170 in the Faculty of Human Development Science to 85, but the enrollment capacity will increase in other faculties, and the enrollment capacity will not change for the university as a whole.
Regarding cooperation in teacher training, Tottori University and Shimane University integrated the training departments in 2004, and Utsunomiya University and Gunma University established a joint education department in 2020, which is the third case in Japan. This is the second joint teacher training course for two universities in Japan, following Utsunomiya University and Gunma University.
