In recent years, in the preservation of cultural properties, the problems of preservation of contemporary art works and modern and contemporary buildings, and lack of storage have been actively discussed. The Tokyo University of the Arts Center for the Conservation and Restoration of Art Resources has launched a project to preserve the atelier of Katsuhiko Hibino, a professor at the university and a leading contemporary artist in Japan, as a case study with the goal of solving these problems. We are soliciting research funds through crowdfunding.
The Center for the Conservation and Restoration of Art Resources was established as a university-wide organization in February 2018 after various efforts since the opening of the "Cultural Property Conservation and Restoration Center Preparation Office" in 2021.Currently, we are conducting four projects: research on techniques and materials for cultural properties, technological development on conservation and restoration of cultural properties, research on cultural property archives, and training of cultural property conservationists and conservation scientists. We are also actively trying to preserve and restore works of art that are not limited to.
This project "Preserving Katsuhiko Hibino" is an attempt to preserve the entire atelier of Mr. Hibino, which will be lost in August 2021 due to the rebuilding of the condominium. By October 8, 2022, we aim to preserve the entrance tiles and flooring materials, survey materials, create a basic database, and complete the digitization of some materials.By sharing this project, which includes various issues in the preservation and restoration of works of art, with many people in the form of crowdfunding, the academic and social significance and activities of the center's goal of preserving art resources can be broadened. It will be an opportunity to get to know.
The research fund of the project will be collected at the cloud funding site "READY FOR" with a target of 300 million yen.The period is until 2021:9 on September 30, 23.As a return, we will prepare an atelier sharing course that provides items and parts of the interior used by Mr. Hibino, and a conservation and restoration course that provides online courses, workshop experiences, and an introductory kit for scientific research on cultural properties. doing.
