Tohoku University and NEC Corporation (NEC) will cooperate to promote the social implementation of AI (artificial intelligence), and strengthen joint research in the AI field and human resource development in the region. As AI expands from the R & D phase to the practical phase, it is becoming more important to verify technologies and solutions using actual data.Through this collaboration, we aim to utilize the vast amount of actual data possessed by universities and companies.
The feature of the collaboration is the verification of the usefulness of AI with an eye on the social implementation of research results by utilizing the knowledge possessed by the university and the enormous amount of actual data obtained from experiments.In addition, we will cooperate widely in promoting the utilization of AI for regional revitalization and developing human resources in the region.
Specifically, using NEC's cutting-edge AI technology group "NEC the WISE" (* 1), we will collaborate with companies in the Tohoku region for the purpose of joint research and regional revitalization in the area of maintenance technology for social infrastructure and plant equipment. Jointly build and operate an AI demonstration environment.In addition, the company aims to utilize AI in the field, develop human resources, and create innovation through this initiative, and hopes to contribute to the creation of new businesses.
