Tama Art University will open the 2021th Tama Art University TUB Exhibition "Silent Carving" from Saturday, November 4th at "Tama Art University TUB" opened in Tokyo Midtown Design Hub in April 11. To hold. "What happens if you wear a mask, keep a distance, and make it without talking?" How has the production site changed or hasn't changed due to the Corona sword? This is an exhibition of works by three students selected by the Department of Sculpture, Tama Art University Graduate School, and is the first Tama Art University TUB to exhibit large-scale sculpture works.

This is the 12th "Graduate School Sculpture Major Selection Exhibition".This support project for graduate students provides a place for presentations outside the university for those with excellent grades in the first semester, with an eye on the activities of writers after graduation. It will be held at Tama Art University TUB located in Tokyo Midtown in 2021 with the aim of disseminating information to people in new fields such as design and business. The highlight is how the young sensibilities of responding to the confused present, using traditional materials and techniques such as stone carving, wood carving and metal carving, turned his theme into a sculptural work.

The three selected students are Yudai Kudo, a first-year graduate student in sculpture, Rikako Yamazoe, a first-year graduate student in sculpture, and Sachi Watanabe, a second-year graduate student in sculpture.

Tadasu Takamine, the dean of the sculpture department at Tama Art University, said, "Wear a mask!" "Keep a distance!" "Do not speak!"For those who create works in relation to people and things, "restricting contact" was one of the important things related to the foundation of expression. The three selected here are those who have continued to produce under these lonely conditions. "Creating a work is a struggle against oneself." It may be the same as before, but the attitude required for "contemplation" has changed a lot in the present age when smartphones do not stop squeaking. "Silent carving!"How will those who aspire to sculpture respond to the demands of the times? I commented for the exhibition.

Tama Art University TUB 8th Exhibition "Silent Sculpture" will be closed on Sundays from Saturday, November 2021th to Thursday, November 11th, 6.free entrance.
