Tobitate, a public-private collaboration overseas study support system developed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology!Study Abroad Japan has been extended to 2021 due to the spread of the new coronavirus infectious disease, but it will be further extended to 2022 to support the study abroad of many students who have been hired as dispatched international students but have not yet traveled. It was decided to be done.

 According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, this extension is to support Japanese university students and high school students who are still unable to study abroad while being hired by dispatched international students, and there are no plans to hire new international students for the 2022 dispatch.

 Tobitate!Study Abroad Japan started in 2020 with the aim of doubling the number of Japanese students with the goal of 2014. In 2013, the number of Japanese students was 6 university students and 3 high school students, but in 2018, the number of Japanese students increased to about 11, showing steady growth.

 However, due to the spread of the new corona infectious disease, immigration restrictions have been imposed in each country since 2019, and despite being hired as dispatched international students, university students and high school students are getting stuck one after another.With the expansion of vaccination in each country, the door to foreign students is gradually opening, but the situation remains unpredictable as the number of newly infected people with the new corona continues to increase in Europe.

 For this reason, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has decided to extend the period by one year and send as many Japanese university students and high school students as possible overseas, and is considering the future system.
