On October 2021, 10, volunteers from Konan Women's University published a book entitled "Women's Education", "A Search for Women's Universities that Seriously Support Women-Women's Education at Konan Women's University".In addition to the university-wide efforts of Konan Women's University, we will introduce discussions on women and women's education from specialized fields covering 30 faculties and 5 departments.Amid growing global gender debate, this book is a book in which female college faculty and staff question the significance of the existence of Japanese women's colleges and the future of female education.
Since the birth of the "Women's College" in Japan, the expectations and roles of society for women have changed in Japanese society itself, and the life plans of women have changed.Awareness of recognizing diverse ways of life has permeated, and women's options are gradually expanding.
Konan Women's University continues to search for whether it will become a "university with only women for some reason" or "a women's university for women who seriously support women" after the 100th anniversary of the school's founding.Let the faculty and staff create their own "pride of learning at women's college" and "pride of teaching and working at women's college" for students.The thoughts of such an educational field became the starting point of this book.
In this book, 22 faculty members of Konan Women's University face students with the "symbol of women", and discuss the significance of the existence of women's colleges, efforts for women's education, and their relationship with women and women's education from their own fields of expertise. We are exploring in multiple layers.You can also touch on how female students living in this era perceive their gender and women's colleges.
The readership is intended for a wide range of general readers, including those involved in education.On the cover, an illustration by illustrator Cotoh Tsumi is used, which is an image of both the vulnerability and strength of female students.
