The Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University, investigated the ancient documents of the Sendai feudal lord Kita family, who had been given territory to Kami Town, Miyagi Prefecture during the Edo period, and published them on their website. The Kita family is an influential vassal who served as a young man of the Sendai domain, and the real image of the domain scholar who was in charge of the domain's business can be seen from ancient documents.

According to Tohoku University, the Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University has been investigating the ancient documents of the Kita family held by the Kami-cho Board of Education since 2020. The shooting of dots (482 frames of images) and the creation of a catalog have been completed, and the catalog has been published on the homepage.About 3,867 shot images will be released.

The ancient documents of the Kita family include a declaration issued by the Sendai domain when the territory of the Kita family was added in 1694, and Ikeda, the lord of the Akaho domain in Harima Province (now western Hyogo prefecture), which is a relative of the Date family of the Sendai domain. In addition to documents related to the territory of Kami Town and the position of the domain, such as letters addressed to the people involved in the Sendai domain from the Masatsuna, diplomas that are proof of mastery of martial arts and books related to learning are included.

The entire document was revealed in this survey, but the Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University, hopes to further promote research by publishing catalogs and images on its website and making them available to anyone.
