With the growing interest in sports in Japan and the improvement of international competitiveness, the role played by medical professionals in the field of sports is also increasing.In particular, sports doctors who are responsible for treating and treating athletes' injuries and maintaining the safety of spectators and staff at match venues are indispensable for sports sites and athletes' competitive activities, and many doctors are active in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. bottom.On the other hand, there are few sports doctors who only see athletes and work while requiring a high degree of specialization and knowledge of sports, and many of them play that role while providing general medical care.

 Therefore, Juntendo University Sports Health Medical Science Promotion Organization (JASMS) fosters medical professionals who are active in the field of sports, develops and expands places of activity, and strengthens information dissemination for the further development of sports and sports medicine science. Was important, and we conducted a fact-finding survey of sports doctors to understand the current situation.

 The survey was conducted on sports doctors enrolled in 6 hospitals attached to Juntendo University School of Medicine.
Generally speaking, a sports doctor is known as a doctor who specializes in orthopedics, which is active in the situations of first aid, medical examination, and treatment of injuries.However, as a result of the survey, Juntendo University has sports doctors in 16 clinical departments such as orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, general medical care, rehabilitation, anesthesiology, neurology, and emergency departments. , It turned out that the total number of people is 74.

 In addition, it was found that the activities of sports doctors enrolled at Juntendo University are wide-ranging, and they are active in the 26th competition field, including ball games and non-ball games.The breakdown is not only sports with a large competitive population such as soccer, rugby, basketball, baseball, land, and swimming, but also beach soccer, futsal, bicycles, martial arts, artistic swimming (AS), shooting, and para-cycling.Athletes supported were also at a wide range of competition levels, regardless of whether they were professional sports or amateur sports (Japanese representatives, business teams, youth, universities, high schools, elementary schools, etc.).

 In this survey, sports doctors enrolled at Juntendo University are active with many specialties, not only orthopedists, but also medical perspectives such as cardiopulmonary function, metabolic function, nutrition, autonomic nerves, and infectious diseases. It can be said that the field of activity is expanding, as there are also sports doctors who are physicians who support by making the best use of.

 In the future, comprehensive conditioning support that transcends clinical departments from the perspective of sports medicine science and advanced medical technology on the pitch side will be required in recent years. By forming cross-cutting connections such as presentation opportunities, we aim to improve our skills as a sports doctor and expand the field of activities.In addition, we will promote the training of new sports doctors and support for acquiring qualifications including international qualifications.
