The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has adopted 2021 graduate schools and 66 undergraduate programs, including Kobe University and Tohoku University, for a total of 14 projects for the 80 government-sponsored foreign student priority placement special program.There are various programs such as training of next-generation biomedical engineering personnel and training of international environmental security leaders.
According to the Ministry of Education, the open recruitment in 2021 started in July and accepted 7 applications (52 graduate schools and 88 undergraduates) from 73 universities nationwide.The selection committee of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology examined the application contents and adopted 15 programs.
The government-sponsored foreign student system started after the war with the aim of improving the educational standards of Japan and other countries around the world, but it continues to secure excellent foreign students at each university and enhance its international competitiveness. Study abroad period is 1 to 7 years.The target audience is teens to 10s who have nationalities of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan, and diplomatic missions abroad have cooperated in recruitment and selection.Taiwan has no diplomatic relations with Japan, with the exception of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association.
