Shiga University, Hikone Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ohmi Data Science Initiative have opened a junior data scientist training school for elementary and junior high school students in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture. Until March 2022, we will hold a total of 3 courses once a week, divided into 3 courses, Wednesday and Thursday, to train future data scientists.
According to Shiga University, the first course was held at the Hikone Chamber of Commerce and was attended by five elementary and junior high school students.I learned the basic operation of the programming language "python", which is indispensable for data scientists, with a student from the Faculty of Data Science, Shiga University as a lecturer.The subjects are elementary and junior high school students in Hikone City who have the ability to complete the "Tech Kids Camp" sponsored by the Hikone Chamber of Commerce. Five people each of the three courses learn programming and AI (artificial intelligence).
Information and communication technology is evolving at a rapid pace, and AI in particular is said to change the society in the future.Hikone City is headquartered by Shiga University, which has Japan's first faculty of data science and graduate school of data science, and is making every effort to realize the Hikone Valley concept, which is a major data science center.
This Junior Data Scientist Training School is one of the efforts of the Hikone Valley initiative, aiming to deepen elementary and junior high school students' knowledge of programming and AI, and to find golden eggs that can play an active role as data scientists in the future.
