The Japan Science and Technology Agency has decided on the institutions to be adopted in 2017 in the "Science Career Selection Support Program for Female Junior and Senior High School Students".
In the "Science and Technology Basic Plan" by the Cabinet Office, which implements science and technology policies over the long term, the 5th term (2016-2020) plans to enable women who will lead the next generation to play an active role in the future in relation to science and technology innovation. , Promote efforts to deepen interest and understanding of science and technology careers for female junior and senior high school students and their parents, and strengthen cooperation between industry, academia and government such as related ministries, industry, academia, and private organizations in the field of science and technology. It is said to promote the acquisition of public understanding of women's success in the field.
Part of this is the "Science Career Selection Support Program for Female Junior and Senior High School Students," which has been implemented since 2009. We support various initiatives such as holding exchange meetings, experimental classrooms, and on-site lessons.
When we solicited projects that were in line with the purpose of the support program, we received 2017 applications in fiscal 21, and a committee consisting of outside experts examined them and decided on 5 institutions. The support cost per case is 300 million yen / year, and the support period is 2 years.
