Kio University has decided to use Microsoft's "Surface Laptop Go" as a PC to lend to all new students in 2022 free of charge.This will be the first time in Japan that it will be introduced as a must-have PC at a university.
Since 2014, Kio University has been promoting an advanced initiative to lend notebook PCs to all new students free of charge.At the orientation, PCs shipped from the factory will be distributed, and students can make initial settings by themselves according to the setting manual created by the university, and then can freely use them not only on campus but also at home.We have set up a Wi-Fi environment on the campus and are promoting cloud computing, and now we have realized a learning environment where all over 2,000 undergraduate students can use rental PCs.It also plays an important role in supporting the balance between face-to-face lessons and distance lessons, such as the early start of distance lessons in Corona.
As rental PCs, Microsoft Surface (Microsoft) from 2014, LIFEBOOK (Fujitsu) from 2018, and Surface Laptop Go (Microsoft) from 2022.
In April 2021, Kio University launched the "Next Generation Education Center" to develop human resources with a wide range of education that can meet future social needs, and in August 4, the liberal arts course "Information Processing Exercise" was held. It was certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology "Mathematical, Data Science, AI Education Program (literacy level)", which is the only five private universities in Kansai.Going forward, we will continue to develop practical specialists who have ICT skills that are indispensable in various fields such as medical care, design, and education.
