Eleven national universities in Kyushu, including Kyushu University, have established the Kyushu District Renewable Energy Cooperation Committee to realize carbon neutrality in 11.We will do our utmost to promote decarbonization and popularize renewable energy in collaboration with Kyushu's industry and local governments.
According to Kyushu University, in addition to Kyushu University, participating schools are Fukuoka University of Education, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Saga University, Nagasaki University, Kumamoto University, Oita University, Miyazaki University, Kagoshima University, Kagoshima University of Physical Education, and Ryukyu University.Kyushu University serves as the representative school. The Collaboration Committee was established under the Kyushu Branch of the Japan Association of National Universities. While disseminating information on unique research and education related to renewable energy developed by 11 schools throughout Kyushu, we will accelerate research through collaboration among 11 schools.
Carbon neutral emits virtually zero greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, and was declared by then Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in the Diet in 2020.Since the expansion of new nuclear power plants has become virtually difficult due to the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake, it will be difficult to realize without growing renewable energy such as solar power generation, wind power generation, hydrogen power generation, and hydroelectric power generation as the main power source. ..
However, Japan's renewable energy has many problems such as the lack of flat land, the cost of developing a power plant is too high, and the weakness of the power grid.To overcome this situation, the government hopes that national universities across the country will play a central role in developing new technologies and reducing costs.
