Shingo Yamaguchi Laboratory, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, and National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention have established a joint research council with the aim of introducing artificial intelligence technology into the fields of disaster prevention and mitigation. We will proceed with research toward the formulation of guidelines for conducting disaster prevention drills using artificial intelligence technology.

According to the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, research themes include the formulation of training guidelines for disaster information analysis using artificial intelligence technology such as natural language processing, and training support services for local governments.
In August, the three parties held a public symposium on disaster information analysis and training using artificial intelligence at Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and then held several joint research meetings around February 3. Develop disaster drill guidelines as a goal.

In the field of disaster prevention, the number of cases where local governments use social networking services (SNS) to disseminate information in the event of a disaster is increasing recently.Meanwhile, using natural language processing of artificial intelligence technology makes it possible to organize and analyze information beyond the limits of human beings, even if the information is complicated.

In response to this, the government published a guidebook for utilizing SNS in disaster response in March 2017, and in April, the Central Disaster Prevention Council revised the disaster prevention basic plan and stipulated for the first time the obligation to make efforts to use the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence. ..
However, in order for the national and local governments to fully utilize artificial intelligence technology in terms of disaster prevention, it is necessary to incorporate it into disaster prevention drills and become familiar with it on a daily basis, but there have been no appropriate guidelines or guidelines for that purpose.
