On July 2017, 7, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology announced the selection results of the "10 Next Generation Entrepreneur Development Project (EDGE-NEXT)".Five consortia with the University of Tokyo and Nagoya University as the main institutions were selected as the implementing agencies as excellent human resources development programs.

 The "Next Generation Entrepreneur Development Project" utilizes the results and knowledge of the EDGE program * of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to expand the number of students in the human resources development program and to develop the program to accelerate the creation of role models. The aim is to strengthen the ability to create ventures in Japan with the aim of improving the rate of entrepreneurial activities.

 As for the selection method, the 2017 applications submitted during the open recruitment period from February 2th to April 16th, 4 were examined by the "Next Generation Entrepreneur Development Business Committee" established by the Japan Science and Technology Agency, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Five consortiums have been selected by the Ministry of Science.

 The five selected consortiums are as follows.
・ Tohoku University Chief "" EARTH on EDGE "-Promotion of entrepreneurship from Tohoku / Hokkaido-"
・ The University of Tokyo Chief "EDGE NEXT Program through Industry-Government-Academia Global Collaboration"
・ Nagoya University Chief "Tokai-EDGE Program"
・ Kyushu University Chief "Entrepreneur Development Program Based on Diversity and Creative Collaboration"
・ Waseda University Chief "Formation of a co-creation ecosystem for EDGE-NEXT human resource development"

 In the future, these five consortia will be supported over the next five years, including the development of advanced programs related to the development of entrepreneurs (entrepreneurs) at each base and the costs that contribute to the construction of the ecosystem.

* EDGE program (edge ​​program: global entrepreneur development promotion project) is to promote the establishment of ventures based on the research and development results of universities, etc., and the creation of new businesses by existing companies in order to revitalize the creation of innovation in Japan.
