Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and Iwate University will establish a doctoral course in veterinary medicine at the graduate school from 2018.The aim is to further deepen the educational philosophy of the joint veterinary department promoted by both schools and grow it as an advanced education and research base in eastern Japan.
According to Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, the enrollment capacity is 10 at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and 5 at Iwate University.In the Tokyo metropolitan area and Tohoku, it will contribute to the region in terms of food production, safety and public health, and will meet the demand for new human resources in the drug discovery field.
The guidance system is integrated into three major courses: basic animal medicine, veterinary hygiene science, and veterinary clinical medicine science, and provides an advanced curriculum.A total of three people, one main supervisor and two sub-supervisors, will be instructed.
The specific curriculum will utilize the know-how cultivated at the Union Graduate School, and will enable systematic courses by setting up five subject groups.In addition, we are planning to take advanced practical courses in collaboration with national and local research institutes.
Both schools are composed of Gifu University, Hokkaido University, Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Tottori University and the United Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, but even after the establishment of the joint graduate school, they intend to maintain the cooperative relationship between the four schools and the degree examination.The two schools hope that innovation will be put into practice in order to solve problems in the veterinary field through the synergistic effect of establishing a joint graduate school.
