Chiba University announced that it will expand the field of "jump-in" program to study at university from the age of 17 to the field of biology from the spring of 2019.This is Japan's first attempt to accept a jump-in in the field of biology.
In 1998, Chiba University started the "advanced science program", which accepts university admission one year earlier than usual after completing the second year of high school, as Japan's first jump-in admission system. Aiming to discover "young talent" and promote the development of scientists, we have produced many researchers and highly specialized professionals while expanding the field every few years. So far, we have accepted students in 2 fields related to "Physics", "Chemistry", "Engineering", "Plant Life Science", and "Human Science", which is the largest among the 1 universities currently enrolling in Japan. It's scale.
The jump-in students belong to the faculty / department corresponding to the selected field, and will be exposed to the latest research with their own curriculum from the first year of the undergraduate course.Another feature of this program is the environment in which you can receive guidance in an environment close to one-on-one with teachers.Overseas training for rushing students is also conducted, and an environment is in place to develop excellent abilities and qualities from an early stage.
The entrance examination for the advanced biology class, which will be accepted this time, is aimed at creative second-year high school students who have a strong interest in various biological phenomena and biodiversity. In addition to the written examination, the achievements in various contests in the field of biology such as the International Biology Olympiad, JSEC (High School Student Science and Technology Challenge), and the Japan Student Science Award are highly evaluated in the comprehensive judgment.
