Showa Women's University will introduce the "Data Science Minor Program" to all undergraduate students from 2022. The purpose is to promote systematic study of data science courses established in 2021 general education and to encourage students to take courses.A "Showa Women's University Data Science Certificate" will be awarded to students who meet the conditions.

Showa Women's University will rename the General Education Center, which offers general education, foreign languages, and teaching profession subjects, to the "University Common Education Center" from 2022, and newly establish a "Mathematical Data Science" section. In this way, we will promote arts and sciences fusion education and mathematical education, and promote the development and practice of a university-wide common program that will be the basis of human resource development aimed at by Showa Women's University.

With the reorganization of the University-wide Common Education Center, the data science subject group opened in general education in 2021 will be strengthened as a secondary major program from 2022, consisting of "Data Science Core", mathematics and statistics. We have systematically constructed a "mathematical subject group" and a "social science subject group" dealing with sociology, economics, energy resources, etc.At the same time, we will expand the subject group to include specialized subjects in departments related to data science.

By awarding the "Showa Women's University Data Science Certificate" to students who meet the conditions, it is expected that students will study with the goal of the certificate and have a synergistic effect of connecting their own specialized fields and data science.
