 Ritsumeikan University has been engaged in research activities related to "sports, health, and welfare" for about 20 years.In particular, since the establishment of the Faculty of Sport and Health Science in 2010, it has achieved remarkable academic achievements in the field of sports and health science and has carried out various research activities.In recognition of these efforts, we were selected for the Innovative Innovation Creation Program (COI) promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

 The Sports and Health Science Research Institute aims to realize the physical, mental and social health of all people as a comprehensive research base in the fields of sports, health and welfare, making use of the knowledge cultivated so far. With "realization of health and longevity," "improvement of QOL through sports," and "realization of community and social health" as research targets, more than 80 researchers belonging to the group are with top-level research institutes in Japan and overseas. In collaboration with each other, we carry out everything from basic research to social implementation.The National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology and the National Institute for Physiological Sciences, National Institute of Natural Sciences, have signed a partnership agreement with the establishment of this institute, aiming to create interdisciplinary co-creative value in the fields of sports, health, and welfare. The initiative has started.

 In addition, with the cooperation of the University of Tokyo Institute for Advanced Sports Science, the "Active Life Co-creation Consortium (tentative name)" has been established at the Sports and Health Science Research Institute with the aim of socially implementing research results created through academic collaboration. ) ”Will be installed.This consortium is expected to involve not only academic and research institutes but also various stakeholders from industry, academia and government, including industry and local governments.
