It is thought that the actions to solve the causes of psychological stress such as human relations within the team promote the growth of the team and individuals and lead to the improvement of competitiveness, Professor Masao Nakayama of the University of Tsukuba Physical Education, Tokyo Seitoku It was found in a study by Associate Professor Takayuki Natsuhara of the Faculty of Applied Psychology, University of Tsukuba.Professor Nakayama and his colleagues believe that a deeper understanding of how to deal with psychological stress will lead to finding support methods that can flexibly deal with the problems they face.
According to the University of Tsukuba, Professor Nakayama and his colleagues targeted a total of 18 high school students from the five high school soccer teams participating in the U-5 Soccer League's metropolitan league and the J League youth team participating in the top premier league. We used a questionnaire to ask about the degree of confidence as a team (group effectiveness), the stress level of human relationships, and how to deal with stress.
As a result, athletes with a high level of competition tended to constructively grasp the cause of stress related to relationships with teammates and try to resolve it.In contrast, athletes with average competition levels tended to try to control their emotions caused by stress.
Furthermore, it was found that athletes with high competitiveness have higher group efficacy than average athletes.Professor Nakayama and his colleagues believe that efforts to improve the self-confidence of the team and solve the causes of stress in their own growth are necessary.
