Chiba University of Commerce has started a project "Kounodai bee Garden" to create a region where humans and nature are in harmony by conducting a beekeeping business on the campus of Kounodai, Ichikawa City.Measures to strengthen the promotion of bee raising are listed in the "SDGs Action Plan 2022" announced by the government. SDGs Goal 2 "Zero Hunger", Goal 13 "Specific Measures for Climate Change", Goal 15 It leads to "Let's protect the richness of the land".

The "Kokufudai bee Garden" concept contributes to the greening of the area around the university and the maintenance of the ecosystem by breeding honeybees on campus, which play a very important role as pollinators (pollinators) responsible for pollen mating. do.Furthermore, by selling the collected honey and developing collaborative products with local confectionery stores, restaurants, etc., the aim is to promote local production for local consumption and lead to regional revitalization.

Students of the "CUC100 Wine Project *" are working on beekeeping.Five birdhouses will be set up on the campus of Kounodai, and about 5 birds will be bred, although it may vary depending on the season.Since the range of action of Western honey bees is about 50,000 to 2 km in radius, Satomi Park around the university, Junsai Pond Green Space, Edogawa Riverbed Green Space, etc. are the sources of honey.

With the full support of the Ginza Bee Project, a pioneer of urban beekeeping, students will take care of daily bees, collect honey, commercialize it, and plan sales.Nectar will be collected from April to August, and product development using honey will be done from May to June.We are also considering holding flower observation meetings, nectar experience meetings, and honey bee observation meetings for local residents and children.

* The CUC100 Wine Project is a project aimed at brewing original wine produced in Ichikawa City toward the 100th anniversary of the university's founding. The purpose is to create a place to interact with local people through the cultivation of grapes used for wine making, and to give an opportunity to think about the future of agriculture and energy resources. This time, we will feel the benefits of living things on our skin, work to create an environment full of flowers, share our understanding of the coexistence of humans and nature with many people, and expand the circle to a new beekeeping business. I decided to work on it.
