The "Amazon Robotics Challenge", which was held for the first time in Japan, is a robot (hardware / software) devised by 30 teams from about 16 teams from all over the world who have won the preliminary round. A competition was held in which products were taken out of the storage shelves and stored.
There are two types of competition, "Stow task" (the action of refilling things on the shelf) and "Pick task" (the action of taking things out of the shelf and putting them in a box). Carnegie Melon University, Bonn University, Chukyo University, Chubu University, Tokyo University, Nara Advanced Science and Technology Graduate University, Tottori University, etc.The joint team of Chukyo University won the 2rd place in the world in the "Stow task" event, and became the top among the Japanese.
In addition, two teams from Chukyo University Faculty of Engineering, Yutaka Shimizu participated in the rescue simulation league of the "RoboCup 2017 Nagoya World Tournament" held at the same time.Assuming that a large-scale disaster occurred in an urban area created in a computer, 2 teams from all over the world participated in a competition in a simulator that operates four robots to search for and rescue people in need of rescue such as citizens. However, the Chukyo B team of Chukyo University advanced to 4th place.
At the exhibition booth, Professor Masayoshi Kano's seminar students exhibited a human-symbiotic robot (baby-type robot that can do nothing), and at the NTT DoCoMo booth, three students from Professor Shingo Moriyama's seminar, Faculty of International English, served as interpreter volunteers.
