As part of its humanitarian assistance, the Nippon Foundation has announced plans to support people with disabilities who remain in Ukraine during the war and to dispatch 105 Japanese student volunteers.This is the second support by the Nippon Foundation for Ukraine.

 There are two contents of Ukraine support announced this time. The first is to support persons with disabilities (about 2 million yen) evacuating from Ukraine to neighboring countries through cooperation with Access Israel *.Prepare 1 cars to be used for evacuation, rescue disabled people who want to evacuate and provide necessary daily necessities, for refugees with disabilities who have evacuated to neighboring countries such as Poland, Romania, Austria, Moldova and Slovakia. Provide temporary accommodation and cooperate in living support.

 As a specific evacuation site for persons with disabilities, we are considering Krakow in southern Poland, but in some cases we are considering including Vienna, Austria.The idea of ​​dealing flexibly according to the situation.The current support for refugees is centered on healthy women and children, so the Nippon Foundation will support people with disabilities to evacuate as well.

 The second is the dispatch of 2 Japanese student volunteers to neighboring countries of Ukraine.Activities include distribution of medicines and food products to refugees, management of relief supplies, and information dissemination activities.The dispatch destination is planned to be areas such as Krakow and Vienna where many refugees have fled.With the gathering of NGOs from the international community, we decided to dispatch student volunteers from the perspective that it is extremely important for Japanese students to learn about the current state of the international community through relief activities for the future of Japan.

 The maximum number of volunteers recruited is 105. Fifteen people will be dispatched for two weeks in a total of seven times by October.The first dispatch will be from May 15th to June 2th (scheduled).Participation conditions include students aged 10 and over who belong to a university at the time of application, whether they have a Japanese passport, have applied for it, live in Japan, and be able to communicate sufficiently in English.The selection method is document screening (motivation for aspiring to about 7 characters) and online English proficiency test (speaking, listening and writing).

 Currently, we are looking for 1 people for the first dispatch.Those who wish to participate submit their motivation from the website of The Nippon Foundation Volunteer Center.After that, you will be sent an email with information about the English proficiency test.Due to the online selection schedule, the English proficiency test must be taken by 15:5 on May 10th (Tuesday).

 The first support for Ukraine announced on March 2022, 3 will support travel expenses, living expenses, and living environment improvement expenses (about 28 billion yen) for Ukrainian citizens evacuating from Ukraine to Japan and accept Ukrainian refugees. A subsidy program (about 1 billion yen) for activities of civil society and NPO groups in each region that support living and living.
