When the Industrial Technology Research Institute conducted a risk assessment of how much voice support at sporting events could infect the new coronavirus, it was confirmed that the risk of infection could be kept low by wearing a non-woven mask.It was also found that the risk of infection was greatly increased in cases wearing urethane masks.

According to the Institute of Industrial Technology, risk assessment will be conducted by Professor Tomoaki Okuda of Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology, Kao, and Kashima Antlers, using the results of research on the effect of mask splash suppression, and voices for the J-League of soccer. We investigated the effects of support for sending out, the mask wearing rate and types of masks, and the effects of preventing corona infection, such as limiting the number of spectators.

As a result, if the risk of infection without voice support is set to 100 for 1% of the spectators currently being implemented in the J League, the number of people accommodated is 50% or less, non-woven masks for voice seats are worn, and the mask wearing rate is 95%. It was found that the risk of infection could be reduced to 0.46.

However, it was also revealed that the risk of infection when cheering for voice increases 50 times when the mask wearing rate drops to 2.96%, and greatly increases when the mask type is urethane. The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology says that the importance of basic measures such as high mask wearing rate and selection of non-woven masks has been proved again.

The research results were provided to the J.League and reflected in the guidelines for the staged introduction plan for voice support, and were also reported at the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization and the J.League's New Coronavirus Countermeasures Liaison Conference.
