The Model United Nations originated from the "Model United Nations" founded at Harvard University in the United States in 1927.Assuming a meeting in the United Nations, one person will be in charge of the ambassador of one country at the meeting, and will negotiate with ambassadors of other countries with different interests while formulating diplomatic strategies. While searching for common items in the opinions, identify the points of conflict, form consensus, and finally verbalize and summarize in the form of a resolution.Since it requires diplomatic negotiations with other countries when collecting information, researching, and attending meetings, it is not just a discussion.
Currently, more than 20 university and high school students, mainly in the United States and Europe, participate in the Model United Nations as part of their classes and extracurricular activities. In addition, more than 35 model United Nations conferences are held annually in 400 countries around the world, and the national convention is the largest. The University of Tsukuba has participated in this national competition every year since it started its activities in 2013.
