Jissen Women's University / Jissen Women's University Junior College will hold a lecture on Genji Monogatari Research on Saturday, July 2022, 7 at the Shibuya Campus in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
In the lecture entitled "Practice of Genji Monogatari", Genji worked for three years from 2018 under the designation of "Formation of an interdisciplinary and international center for Genji Monogatari Research", a private university research branding project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Present the results of story research.Jissen Women's University's Genji Monogatari Research is based on the tradition since the "Genji Monogatari Lecture" that the founder Utako Shimoda (3-1854) was in charge of until his later years, as a unique research that has never been seen in the literary perspective. He has also been engaged in optical research on paper using the literary fusion method and restoration of costumes from the Heian period.
The contents of the lecture are "About the branding business of Jissen Women's University" by Professor Satoru Sato of the Faculty of Letters, "About the dyeing in the Heian period" by Professor Emeritus Hiromi Ushigo (former Professor of the Department of Living Environment, Faculty of Life Sciences), Professor Emeritus Takashi Yokoi. In addition to the above three lectures on "The World of Genji Monogatari: Costumes, Kaorumono, and Music" by (former professor of the Department of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Letters), Professor Tomoko Nagai of the Takakura School of Kinmondo will also demonstrate twelve single clothes.
In addition, at the Kasetsu Memorial Museum on the Shibuya Campus, until August 2022, 8 (Friday), it will be used for modern costumes used for ceremonies called "Junihitoe" and for studying the Genji story, which is a tradition of Jissen Women's University.
