The joint research team of Professor Takashi Osawa of the Graduate School of Language and Culture, Osaka University and the Institute of History and Archeology of the Mongolian National Academy of Sciences is called Dongoin Siray in the eastern part of Mongolia in a three-year joint excavation survey from 2015 to 2017. From the vast plateau, we excavated a unique square archaeological site surrounded by 3 large orkhon inscriptions, which is the only one in the Mongolian plateau and the Central Eurasia region.

From the ground of the ruins discovered this time, 4 large Turkic inscriptions made of granite with a total length of about 6 to 14 m were excavated when restored. From the surface of two of these inscriptions, one new ink inscription and one inscription using a new type of Khitan script were newly discovered, and these inscriptions are one of the largest inscriptions ever found in Mongolia. It can be said that it is.

The most distinctive feature of this site is the 14 inscriptions surrounding the stone coffin (outer box made of stone, which contains the casket) that was placed in the center of the site to bury and mourn the burial person. (However, the original position of two of them is still unknown). This is an extremely rare feature not only in Mongolia but also in Central Eurasia, and it can be said that it is an extremely valuable historical and cultural site for understanding the rule structure and activity range of the Turkic King in eastern Mongolia during the Old Turkic Empire.

In addition, by deciphering the inscription, the main character of this inscription was appointed to the position of "Yabghu", the viceroy after Kagan, the monarch of Göktürk at that time, and then had the title of "Teris Shad", which means "the royal lord of the east". It turned out that the main character was in charge of eastern defense. This showed that the unknown major base to the east of Göktürk was the grasslands of Donggoin Siray.

Until now, it was recognized by the people concerned that the inscriptions and ruins of the Göktürk royal family were found only in the grasslands west of the area around Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. The unknown control structure and range of the eastern ruler of the Göktürk Empire, the Khitan and Kei located to the east, and the Mongolian powers such as Tatar and the Tang at that time adjacent to the ruins. It was valuable data to know the political and cultural relationship between the empire and Göktürk.
