The Graduate School of Media Design, Keio University has signed an industry-academia-government mutual cooperation agreement with Kumamoto Prefecture Minamiaso Village and the Kumamoto Prefecture Livestock Agricultural Cooperative Association, aiming to create an ethical livestock industry through industrial support for "Kumamoto Aka beef".

 According to Keio University, the items to be linked are
・ Promotion of sustainable local industry while preserving Aso's environment such as grasslands and groundwater
・ Support for industrial branding in mountainous areas and the sixthization of the primary industry's business development in food processing and distribution and sales
・ System construction and management support aiming at regional co-creation

 Kumamoto Aka beef is a beef cattle that is classified as a Japanese brown cattle, and was born by crossing a Simmental breed with a native breed that was kept in Kumamoto prefecture.Breeding cattle are grazing in the grasslands of Minamiaso Village.The grasslands of Aso have a strong ability to store water and are very effective in disaster prevention.

 Keio University and others will strive to maintain the grassland by branding and promoting Kumamoto Aka beef, and as the attention to ethical consumption (* 1) is increasing, feed containing cashew nut shells. Is planned to be given to grazing cattle to reduce the methane gas generated from the cattle.

 Furthermore, while making efforts to deal with ethical consumption into tourism, we will promote the acceptance of inspections and training from outside the region, aiming to contribute to regional revitalization.
