According to Shiga University, the agreement signing ceremony was held at Shiga University's Hikone Campus in Baba, Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, where Shiga University President Akimichi Takemura and Wakasa High School Principal Toru Kitamura signed the agreement.
In 2017, Shiga University established the first data science department in Japan, aiming to become a domestic base for statistics and big data research.We have secured close to 40 specialists in statistics and informatics, including the invitation of President Takemura, former president of the Statistical Society, from the University of Tokyo.
To date, collaboration with high schools in the field of data science has focused on public high schools in Shiga Prefecture, such as Torahime High School in Nagahama City and Hikone Higashi High School in Hikone City, as well as high schools in Kagawa, Hyogo, and Shimane prefectures. are being implemented.
Wakasa High School was designated as a Super Science High School by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2011, and has achieved many achievements in about 10 years.Shiga University will promote guidance and advice in the field of data science, promote human exchanges, and lend its strength to the development of high school students who will support the next era.
