Due to the corona crisis, both adults and children are going through a difficult time mentally and physically due to the disruption of their lifestyles and various stresses.A research group led by Yuko Fujimura, a coordinator of the Organization for Promotion of Regional Collaboration at the University of Toyama, investigated the relationship between lifestyle habits and difficulty falling asleep for more than 30 minutes in junior high and high school students. It turns out there is.

 According to the University of Toyama, the research group surveyed about 1989 children who were born in 1 and lived in Toyama Prefecture at the time of the survey. Using the data from the Toyama Study, we analyzed the relationship between lifestyle habits during the first year of junior high school and difficulty falling asleep, and the relationship between lifestyle habits during the first year of junior high school and difficulty falling asleep during the first year of high school.

 As a result, regarding the relationship between lifestyle habits and difficulty falling asleep in the first year of junior high school, boys had short sleep time, long sleep time, less exercise time, long game time, and low self-esteem. Uncomfortable bedroom environment, long game time, abdominal pain, chronic disease, secondary sex characteristics, mental distress, feelings of avoidance of going to school and difficulty falling asleep were found.

 Regarding the relationship between lifestyle habits in the first year of junior high school and difficulty falling asleep in the first year of high school, boys were single parents and had low self-esteem. A relationship between avoidance feelings and difficulty falling asleep was confirmed.

 Based on the results of the research, the research group created and released a video about "sleep education" for children and adults (elementary school upper grades and junior high school versions) based on the research results, considering that summer vacation is a good opportunity for parents and children to check their sleep and lifestyle habits.・Adult version).In addition, a stretch video for sleep induction devised by lecturer Satomi Sawa of the Faculty of Education Joint Teacher Training Course and seminar students is also available on YouTube by the Regional Medical and Health Support Division, Organization for Promotion of Regional Collaboration, University of Toyama.
