The University of Tokyo has compiled a basic plan for the revitalization of the Hongo area of ​​Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, where the Hongo area campus is located.On July 2022, 7, President Teruo Fujii and others visited the Bunkyo Ward Office and handed over the basic plan to Ward Mayor Hironobu Narisawa, with the idea of ​​revitalizing the entire area as a campus town in cooperation with the surrounding area.

 According to the University of Tokyo, the handover ceremony for the basic concept was held at the Bunkyo Ward Office, attended by President Fujii, Vice President Tatsuya Okubo, Vice President Taiji Asami, and Specially Appointed Assistant to the President Makoto Yokohari.
