The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) is proceeding with the revision work of the NEDO Fuel Cell / Hydrogen Technology Development Roadmap in order to show the direction of technological development toward the realization of a hydrogen society. The road map was released in advance.

In this revision, NEDO plans a committee consisting of manufacturers, electric power companies, universities, research institutes, etc., and summarizes the technical issues corresponding to the dissemination targets set by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in the hydrogen and fuel cell strategy roadmap. rice field.Furthermore, in order to meet the needs of the industry aiming for the full-scale introduction of a hydrogen-based society, we have set a long-term target value (ultimate target) to be achieved after 2040 for the first time.

In the "FCV / Mobile" technology development roadmap, we will achieve the popularization target for fuel cell vehicles (FCV) around 2040.The target values are maximum output density 9kW / L, maximum load point voltage 0.85V, maximum operating temperature 120 ℃, etc.If realized, fuel cells for automobiles will become smaller and have higher performance, and can be expected to expand to a large number of vehicle models.

The "Commercial / Industrial Fuel Cell" technology development roadmap aims to dramatically improve the efficiency of fuel cell systems that support the new "monogene market." The performance level achieved after 2040 is set to have a power generation efficiency of 60% LHV or higher for small capacity (several kW class) and a power generation efficiency of 10% LHV or higher for medium capacity (several tens to hundreds of kW class). In addition, various issues for mass dissemination are described.

In the "household fuel cell" technology development roadmap, we aim to spread 2030 million units by 530 and to have a system price of about 5 yen that can recover the investment in 50 years. We have set a power generation efficiency of 2040-45% LHV or higher as the ultimate goal after 60 and to reduce installation construction costs by downsizing.

In the future, preparations will be made for the fields of hydrogen station, hydrogen power generation, and Power to Gas, and the entire NEDO fuel cell / hydrogen technology development roadmap will be released in the spring of 2018.
