The space AI human resource development program promoted by Kanazawa University, Fukui University, and Ishikawa National College of Technology has been adopted for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Space Aerospace Science and Technology Promotion Commission. The three universities and technical colleges will work together to provide cutting-edge AI (artificial intelligence) and space science and engineering education to high school students, university students, and technical college students in Hokuriku.
According to Kanazawa University, the project that was adopted was "development of 'intelligent spacecraft' development human resources through high school-university collaboration space AI competition."Associate Professor Shoya Matsuda of the Science and Engineering Research Area of Kanazawa University will serve as the project representative, and the Kanazawa University Advanced Space Science and Engineering Research Center, the University of Fukui Data Science and AI Education and Research Center, and the Ishikawa National College of Technology Department of Electronics and Information Engineering will collaborate.
Utilizing the vast amount of space environment measurement data held by Kanazawa University, a competition will be held to compete for performance such as data classification and knowledge discovery by AI, and develop human resources for new research areas that combine space and science and engineering.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology received a total of 26 applications from universities and other organizations across the country for the public offering of projects. As a result of examination by an evaluation panel consisting of academic experts, a total of seven projects were selected, including Kanazawa University, Kyoto University, Kyoto Prefectural University, Fukui Institute of Technology, Gakushuin University, and the University of Aizu.
