Since 2007, the National Federation of University Co-ops has been conducting a "new student survey to ask parents" for new students from April to May every year. In 4, we received responses from 5 people from 2017 university co-ops and announced the survey results.

According to the survey, the cost (average amount) * from the entrance examination to admission is 1,278,400 yen for national and public and 1,484,800 yen for private students. For boarding house students, it is 1,989,000 yen for public and 2,235,400 yen for private.

By major, the national public / medical / dental medicine system for home students was the lowest at 1,256,100 yen, and the private / medical / dental medicine system for boarding house students was the highest at 3,167,600 yen.In the case of home students in national and public universities, the average number of faculties that took the medical and dental medicine system was 2.2, which was less than that of the liberal arts (3.3 faculties) and science and engineering (3.0 faculties), so the "examination fee" was 102,000. The fact that the yen was lower than other majors (144,200 yen for liberal arts and 127,800 yen for science and engineering) affected the total amount.

"Costs for application" decreased from 2016 for both home students and boarding house students (11,900 yen decrease for home students and 7,000 yen decrease for boarding house students). In particular, the private "examination fee", which had been increasing moderately from 2011 (138,500 yen) to 2016 (166,200 yen), decreased by 2017 yen to 145,500 yen in 20,700.This may be due to the fact that the average number of faculties to be examined has decreased by 2016 from 0.3, and the use of the discount system at the time of application, such as application via the Web, has become widespread.

Regarding the preparation and ingenuity of expenses from the examination to admission, 53.9% of the respondents said they had "student insurance", but it has been on a downward trend since 2014.Instead, 35.1% of those who "cut down their savings" are on the rise.Regarding scholarships, “applying for scholarships” was 32.9%, which has been declining moderately since 2012, and parents' awareness of avoiding scholarship lending continues.

In addition, parents expect "strengthening education for specialized education" 59.6%, "strengthening support for employment" 51.2%, and "strengthening general education as a member of society" 46.7%. Followed by.33.8% of parents answered that they were worried about "employment and future" when their children lived in college, down 2013 points from 7.7 and 2011 points from 9.3. People's anxiety is also shrinking.

 * The costs from the examination to admission are "application costs" such as examination fees, "examination costs (transportation / accommodation costs, etc.)", "school payments to the university you entered", etc. Refers to "costs for purchasing textbooks and teaching materials," "costs for finding a place to live," and "costs for purchasing daily necessities."
