For the first time in three years, Edogawa University held a traditional program called "Intercultural Understanding Training," which has been running for more than 30 years since its establishment, and 3 students studied at Massey University in New Zealand.

Visiting a foreign country and experiencing and learning about the culture and society of the people living there leads to a deeper understanding of the international community.Since its opening, Edogawa University has been conducting a cross-cultural understanding training in New Zealand in order not only to cultivate English skills, but also to broaden global perspectives through cross-cultural experiences. In 2020 and 2021, it was suspended due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection, but in the summer of 2022, it resumed for the first time in three years.

33 students participated in this year's 16rd year.Professor Masahiko Arai, director of the Center for International Exchange, served as the supervising teacher. The inauguration ceremony was held on August 8th, and from August 24th to September 8th, the students attended Massey University in Albany while staying at a homestay for two weeks to learn English.

In addition to taking classes at the university, he also visited TV and radio stations, learned how to use equipment from the staff at the site, and appeared on a live radio broadcast. We also enjoyed walking around central Auckland, sightseeing and shopping.Participating students and their host families brought food to the party, which allowed us to deepen friendships with other participating students' homestay families.

Participating students commented, "I often felt different cultures during lunch and dinner," and "I was able to actively think and talk with friends in English in university classes. My host family also speaks English. I think I was able to improve my English conversation skills by being able to have daily conversations." "I thought it would be very difficult to communicate with people who speak a completely different language, but the locals were all kind and I was able to appreciate my clumsiness." They tried to understand my English and spoke slowly.
