Kyoto University will hold the 2018th Space Unit Symposium on February 2th and 10th, 11, with the theme "Can human beings become aliens?"There is no membership fee.Currently recruiting participants.

 The Kyoto University Space Research Unit (Space Unit), which hosts the symposium, was established with the aim of developing comprehensive space research in a wide range of fields, including science, engineering, and the humanities and social sciences. In collaboration with JAXA / ISAS and other universities, we are promoting research and education on various issues related to space as a living sphere for humankind.

 From 2009 to 2012, we held a symposium entitled "Why Mankind Goes to Space", and from 2013 to 2016, we held a broader discussion on the theme of "The Future of Human Civilization Spreading in Space".

 At this 11th symposium, under the theme of "Can human beings become aliens?", Various issues related to humankind's advance into space and manned space activities will be examined through poster sessions, lectures, and panel discussions.

 On February 2th, a poster exhibition exchange event "Space Research Plaza" will be held.A poster exhibition will introduce about 10 researches and initiatives of various people such as high school students, high school teachers, university students, graduate students, university faculty members, companies, and individuals.

 Also, on February 2, "Symposium Lecture + Panel Discussion" will be held.11 lectures by Mr. Yosuke Yamashiki + SGH Shiga Prefectural Moriyama High School Habitable Study Group "Practice of high school-university collaboration in ExoKyoto development", Mr. Shoichiro Asada (Managing Director of Japan Space Forum) "Space industry x human resource development", Mr. Takao Doi ( A panel discussion will be held with panelists such as Professor of Space Research Unit, Kyoto University.
