A regional revitalization promotion project by a base university in a place (knowledge) that supports universities that promote reform of the educational curriculum necessary for regional revitalization and human resource development required by the region. We gave the highest S rating to 5 national universities such as Shinshu University.

According to the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the project has been implemented since 2015 with the aim of supporting universities that will serve as bases for regional revitalization, and plans for 42 national, public and private universities nationwide have been adopted. The business committee evaluated the business content on a five-point scale from the highest S to the lowest D.

In addition to Shinshu University, Toyama University, University of Fukui, Gifu University, and Tokushima University were selected for the S evaluation, which is considered to be an initiative that goes beyond the plan.Twenty-two schools, including Hirosaki University, University of Shiga Prefecture, Kobe University, Saga University, and Ryukyu University, are included in the A rating, which was recognized as an initiative as planned.

Fifteen schools, including Tohoku Gakuin University, Fukushima University, Nara Women's University, Tottori University, and the University of Kitakyushu, were included in the B rating, which requires further efforts. There was no C rating for which the reduction of financial support was appropriate, and no D rating for which the discontinuation of financial support was required.

Based on this interim evaluation, the project committee is requesting that the selected schools focus on regional revitalization with an eye on even after the end of the subsidy period.
