Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University have reached a final agreement to integrate their corporations and universities into one corporation and one university, and signed a basic agreement.Along with this, we started public offering for a new university name.A joint preparatory committee for the integration of the two corporations will decide on a new name with reference to names submitted through public offering.
According to the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the application period is until December 12.To apply, fill in the name and abbreviation of the new university in both Japanese and English from the dedicated online form, and add the reason for the new name proposal.
The new name will be announced on the websites of Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University in January 2023.The preparatory committee for the integration will examine whether or not it matches the vision and organizational culture of the new university, and make decisions based on the decisions of the boards of directors of both university corporations.
The merger of Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University aims to accelerate research across fields in order to create new innovations in a rapidly changing society. We are aiming to realize it in 2024.
Another major goal is to become a world-class research university by receiving accreditation as an international university for outstanding research, which can receive support from a 10 trillion yen fund established by the government.As the International University for Excellence in Research system will start in 2024, we would like to realize the integration as early as possible in time.
