The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Education School Education Advancement and Effect Verification Center and Fujitsu Limited are using the "spatial UI technology" developed by the Fujitsu Research Institute to digitize the entire room, and are using active learning for student activities. A joint demonstration experiment for "visualization" will be conducted from April 2018, 4 to March 10, 2019 in the classes of the Secondary Education School attached to the Faculty of Education of the University of Tokyo.
In recent years, in the field of education, collaborative learning in which students work toward the goal of a task as a group has been incorporated into classes as part of active learning in which students actively communicate their ideas. In collaborative learning, the process that leads to the final result is also an important criterion for judgment of quality, but in class, paper, pencils, blackboards, etc. are used, and it is difficult to grasp the flow until the deliverable is made. is.
Spatial UI technology installs multiple devices that combine projectors and cameras in the classroom, and digitizes the entire space as a single window system.Materials brought in from smart devices and memos written on digital sticky notes can be shared on a large screen, allowing students to raise their faces for discussion. In this experiment, we will add a technology to acquire activity data to these existing spatial UI technologies.Content such as digital sticky notes, creation / operation history, and the number of people and movements involved can be linked and collected in chronological order, and the flow of communication can be visualized on the dashboard. As a result, the teacher can grasp the activity status of each student and the process leading to the final result, and can look back on the lesson.
The University of Tokyo and the Secondary Education School attached to the Faculty of Education of the University of Tokyo have been studying collaborative learning methods since 2005, focusing on the effectiveness of utilizing ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Since 2017, we have been practicing collaborative learning lessons in classrooms that have introduced spatial UI technology.By visualizing the communication of collaborative learning this time, it will be possible to grasp the movement of each student and the overall process toward the learning goal, and it is expected that it will lead to the establishment of a new method of collaborative learning. ..
