Kyoto Sangyo University, Kyoto City, Panasonic Corporation, etc. have carried out a demonstration experiment of delivery boxes "Project to reduce redelivery of Kyo (Miyako)" for three months from November 2017 to January 11.As a result, the redelivery rate in apartments has decreased from 2018% to 1% (*).

This project was sponsored by the city of Kyoto and was carried out in cooperation with Panasonic Corporation, Kyoto Sangyo University and a delivery company.Kyoto City is said to be the "student city" with the highest ratio of the number of students (total of universities and junior colleges) to the population among the ordinance-designated cities. In Kyoto City, we are trying to reach out to the youth generation who use online shopping, etc., and provide a means to receive courier services even when they are away during the day, leading to a shift to an "environmentally friendly lifestyle."

In the demonstration experiment, a total of 39 Panasonic-made parcel delivery boxes for apartments "COMBO-Maison" were delivered to 5 apartments in Kyoto City (106 households in total), and public parcels were delivered to the Kyoto Sangyo University campus. I installed a box.

As a result of the experiment, there were a total of 117 deliveries in the apartment, and redelivery decreased from 43% of the value before the demonstration experiment to 15%. It was found that it leads to reduction of CO2 emissions and reduction of business hours of delivery companies. In addition to comments from users, such as "I was stressed about redelivery but it disappeared" and "I can now go out without worrying about the time of luggage", "Some of the sizes did not fit. , I'd be happy if there were delivery boxes of different sizes. "

In addition, 51 out of 29 monitors use the public delivery box installed at the university.During the demonstration experiment, 112 items were used, and it was found that the delivery box on campus could be an option for receiving packages outside of home.

Regarding this demonstration experiment, Kyoto Sangyo University has collaborated with industry, academia and public to address the "redelivery problem" and "working time problem" that are developing into social problems, and the accompanying "CO2 emission problem". I think it is very significant to have conducted a demonstration experiment.I would like to continue to actively cooperate with such efforts and contribute to society. "

* Calculated from the results of exit polls for 3 apartments (66 households) 7 days / month x 3 months = 21 days.Redelivery rate = Redelivered packages are received and divided by the total number of packages. The figures before the demonstration experiment were compared by converting the number received in the delivery box into redelivery.
